Fulton House Bed & Breakfast
The Fulton House, built in the late 19th Century, features an East Coast Cape Cod design. Built in the late 19th century, the house was originally a bordello situated on a log raft in the Willamette River, adjacent to what is today Willamette Park, only a block away. A century ago the house was lifted, placed on round logs and dragged by a team of to its present location. Our name, The Fulton House, derives from the small town of Fulton, which was annexed into Portland many decades ago.
The Fulton House is a terrific place to stay while you explore Portland or conduct business in the City. Should you wish to visit the nationally famous medical facilities at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), you are minutes away from the tram that will bring you up “Pill Hill.”
The Fulton House offers two guest rooms, each of which offers private baths, cable TV, free local and long distance telephone service, high speed wireless internet, and a refrigerator stocked with bottled water, pop and a bottle of wine, all complimentary.
The main floor is a common area and contains a kitchen, a formal dining room with Stickley dark oak furniture, a living room with hundreds of books and many antiques, a gas fireplace and a sun porch. There is also an outdoor patio with table and chairs and a large hot tub.
The Fulton House's first guest area, the Wine Cellar Suite, has bedroom and private bath, and a huge “great room” with entertainment center, private work area and comfortable fold-out sofa capable of sleeping two additional guests. The Blue Heron Room offers a large bedroom with private bath containing 6-ft. claw foot tub and shower, and a private outdoor veranda running the length of the house, a great place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine.
Amenities: Cable TV with all the premium channels; free telephones for calls made anywhere in the U.S. or Canada; wi-fi throughout the house; public library with hundreds of books and antiques; large living and dining rooms with Stickley dark oak furniture; a sun porch; an open sitting and dining area on Texas St. side porch; a patio with table and chairs for more private open-air dining; a hot tub for up to 6; a beautiful back yard with waterfall, 30-ft. stream and koi pond and a built-in brick barbecue; and well-stocked refrigerators.
A delicious full breakfast is served from 7:30-9:30 each morning. The main course might be french toast, quiche, waffles, blueberry pancakes or Fulton House eggs & potatoes, accompanied by a variety of fresh fruits, scones or muffins, granola, yogurts, and your choice of juices and beverages. Each afternoon, a special treat of cake or cookies plus beverage are available for your added pleasure.
