The charming town of Silverton is located just 15 miles northeast of Salem along Hwy. 213, also known as Oregon’s Garden City. Part of its charm comes from Silver Creek that runs through the heart of historic downtown. Start with a stroll through Oregon Garden’s 80-plus acres park, and perhaps take a tour of the Gordon House, the only house in Oregon designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
In Silverton’s historic downtown restaurants, cafes, a wine bar, brewery, antique shops and art galleries await. There's even a vintage movie theater that shows first run movies.
Take a walk around downtown, and view the numerous colorful outdoor murals that represent Silverton’s rich history. Silverton has many stately Victorian and Craftsman style homes surrounding its downtown area.
During the spring and summer months, there are numerous weekend events in town, such as Homer Davenport Days, Art Festivals, even an Octoberfest in nearby Mt. Angel, and at Oregon Gardens, and Silver Falls.
Pack a snack or picnic lunch, and take a scenic 20 minute drive to Silver Falls State Park, where you will find several miles of trails, and see up to 10 waterfalls on foot or by bicycle on well-groomed paths.
