Southern Oregon Coast – The Start of a Week-long Road trip

The Southern Oregon Coast, also known as  America’s Wild Rivers Coast, offers 101 miles of nature’s best, spectacular shoreline, beach access, towering forests and some of the last remaining wild rivers in America.

After spending the weekend in San Francisco with family we took the scenic, albeit long way home, traveling the 365 miles north on the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway.  You see, our inn is on the north slopes of Mt Hood but even innkeepers need to be the tourists every once in awhile.  And our schedule was such that we had to be in Seaside for the annual meeting of the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild and we had a week to get there.

The entire Curry county shoreline is public, bordered by scenic viewpoints, parks, sea stacks and natural bridges.  A mountainous region, almost two-thirds of the county is public forestland offering hiking, mountain biking, tower climbing and camping.  Cape Blanco is the westernmost point of the mainland United States and residents of Curry County literally ‘live on the edge’.

The Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild is a professional association of Oregon’s individually operated Bed & Breakfast Inns. A requirement of membership is to adhere to our Quality Assurance Guidelines so as to assure travelers of consistently high standards.  Our inns are re-inspected every two or three years to maintain these standards and since I happened to be in the area I made a visit to WildSpring Guest Habitat to perform this re-inspection.

WildSpring Guest Habitat sits on 5 secluded acres and offers luxury accommodations in a naturally beautiful environment. Five elegant cabin suites built like small homes are filled with with art and antiques and sit in a secluded, peaceful forest surrounded by 100-foot trees. The sacred Labyrinth, surrounded by towering 100′ trees and lush green ferns, is inherently powerful. The guest hall, sculpture garden and open-air slate spa overlook the ocean making it a perfect location as your Oregon Coast Lodging choice.
