Portland, Oregon Bed and Breakfasts
Home > Find a B&B > By City > Portland, Oregon

Portland is known as the City of Roses, thanks to the colorful gardens sprinkled around the city.  The International Rose Test Garden sits high in Portland’s NW hills in Washington Park.  There are 10,000 rose bushes with views of the city and snow capped Mount Hood to the east.  The Willamette River runs through the downtown historic districts with bike paths and parks along the banks adding to the many outdoor activities available in Portland.
Our history includes the Lewis & Clark expedition and the end of the Oregon Trail. The Oregon Historical Society, Portland Art Museum, theatre and symphony are just a few of the many stops you will want to make while in Portland.
Start the day visiting our many specialty shops, art galleries and quaint boutiques. Finish your day at one of our fine restaurants or local brewpubs, located throughout the city’s neighborhoods.
Portland Restaurants and Bed and Breakfasts are at the forefront of supporting local and sustainable farms, artisan bakeries and cheese makers. Sauvie Island, just 10 miles north of downtown, provides our local restaurants with fresh produce, honey, berries and apples.  There are several U-pick farms on the island.  Pears, apples and plums are also available from Hood River farms an hour east of Portland.  Freddy Guys Hazelnut Farm in the Willamette Valley sells their nuts at the Portland Farmer’s Market and our innkeepers are happy to bake luscious cookies and granola for our guests using Oregon’s own hazelnuts.
Our rainy season won’t stop our guests from having fun. Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) has something of interest for all ages.
On the west side of the Willamette River, Washington Park hosts the Oregon Zoo, where summer concerts are coming soon, the International Rose Test Garden, The Japanese Garden, many miles of hiking trails, The World Forestry Center with permanent exhibits on sustainable forest management in the Pacific NW and around the world. Portland Children’s Museum offers something for every child. The Lan Su Chinese Garden is a city block of pure tranquility in the Pearl District. For the casual stroll to the serious hike, with over 200 miles of hiking trails, Forest Park is a 5000-acre park located in the NW hills. With 2500 Rhododendrons, azaleas and other flowering plants, Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is located in SE Portland
During the warm summer months, there are many water parks scattered around the city where people gather and children play in the fountains.  The Saturday Market is a Saturday and Sunday event at the waterfront featuring arts and crafts by local artists.  Live music and food carts offer something for everyone.  Portland Farmer’s Market located at Portland State University in the South Park Blocks offers fresh produce, artisan breads and cheeses, food carts and live entertainment every Saturday.
The Columbia River Gorge is a 45-minute drive from Portland and the Willamette Valley wineries start just south of the city.  Both these destinations make an enjoyable day trip from Portland. Outdoor enthusiasts will love Mt. Hood for skiing and hiking, and lunch or dinner at Timberline Lodge, a WPA project.
Mt. Tabor Park is 195 acres on an ancient cinder cone in southeast Portland at SE 60th and Salmon St.  The park offers hiking, birding, picnicking, playground and beautiful views of the city to the west and the mountains to the east.

Using public transportation on MAX from the airport and the Portland Streetcars can make getting around the city easy without having to worry about parking.
Our local inns are often in historic homes in beautiful neighborhoods of the city, many within walking distance to shops and restaurants.  Our innkeepers will make your trip to Portland a memorable experience and one you’ll want to repeat.
