In the center of beautiful Willamette Valley, and with many lodging accommodations to choose from, Salem is a great choice for your Oregon vacation. Known as Tree City USA, and the Cherry City, Salem is a leader in urban forestry, with tree-lined streets, and 40 city parks filled with Oregon White Oak and cherry trees. Waldo Park, one of the world's smallest, consists of a single Sequoia tree. Riverfront Park features many events such as Bite of Salem, a summer food festival.
As Oregon's state capitol, Salem is full of museums and historic architecture. Visit the 19th century buildings at Mission Mill. Tour Oregon's third capitol building, and find out what happened to the first two.
The Salem area is home to world-class wines, and outdoor recreation, including hiking and boating.Downtown | 1 Mile | 5 Miles | 10 Miles | 15 Miles | 25 Miles | 50 Miles

Independence House Bed & Breakfast will close at the end of February, 2013. It's been a great 7-year run, but it's time to move on to the next chapter of life. I will miss all my guests, especially repeat guests (now friends) and the many, sturdy bicyclists who have wheeled through here.
