Seven Oaks Bed & Breakfast
About Seven Oaks
Built in 1928 by French craftsman and renowned inventor August Guignard, the homestead at 1373 Barker Road featured acres of farms and orchards as well as manufacturing operations for the fruit grading equipment he pioneered. Today, that home is Seven Oaks Bed & Breakfast and it continues to be one of the finest historical homes in the nation.
The neighborhood is now characterized by scattered light industrial spaces and farms. Nestled here is Seven Oaks Bed & Breakfast and its two acres of lush gardens bordered by mature Douglas Firs that provide complete privacy and the feel of country living. Views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams provide a dramatic backdrop for serene and peaceful seating nooks and gardens within the meticulously kept grounds.
Located outside of the bustle of downtown Hood River in an area called "The Heights," Seven Oaks is conveniently close to, but peacefully detached from, the "city life" of Hood River. Here you can have the best of both worlds.
Nearby is the majestic Columbia River Gorge, renowned for world-class windsurfing, mountain biking, horseback riding, wineries, and more. A favorite among wedding guests, Seven Oaks is the perfect location for your gathering or retreat.

Seven Oaks Cottage
Oregon White Oak Room
Beautiful hard wood flooring continues into this room located on the ground floor. Crisp, white painted woodwork and the sculptured, metal wall vents are vintage exhibits of the original structure of this 1928 home.
The room is furnished with early American furniture complete with iron head board, writing desk, bed side tables, a dresser topped with an oval mirror, and a comfortable easy chair.
The bay window on the far side of the room overlooks the North flower garden. If you are one who finds the sound of a babbling brook peaceful, you may open a bay window to hear the soothing sound of the fountain as you dream of yesteryear.
Southern Live Oak Room (reserved only with the English Golden Oak Room)
This room is located on the upper floor. Crisp, white painted woodwork frame a row of windows overlooking the South side of the house. These windows offer views of Oregon White Oak trees, the cottage, and rose and vegetable gardens. In the distance, through the trees, you can view Mt. Hood's majestic, snow covered peak. A dramatic angled ceiling parallels the roof line framed by the warmth of the original hardwood flooring.
The room is furnished with early American furniture pieces including a wood-sculpted head-board, a butler's pantry, bed-side tables, a spinet writing desk and a relaxing, easy chair.
The closet offers freshly laundered towels and terry cloth robes. A faceted ruby-like light above the closet door is a clever, original feature to indicate when the closet light was left on.
English Golden Oak Room
The rich hard wood flooring continues into this room located on the upper floor. Crisp, white painted woodwork and the sculptured, metal wall vents are vintage exhibits of the original structure of this 1928 home. The walls house doors that lead to secret spaces under the eaves of the house.
The room is furnished with early American furniture complete with iron head board, an East Lake style chest with marble inlaid top backed by an oval mirror, bed-side tables and a writing desk.
A sitting area graces the far end of the room is back lit by windows that offer a view of a small, early-day out building, flower gardens, trees, a well manicured lawn and an inviting, secluded garden bench.
Seven Oaks Cottage
Separate from the main house, Seven Oaks Cottage is a cozy retreat with a full bath and kitchenette. A brief stroll past the adjacent rose garden takes you to the main house.
