Wallowa Falls is a small but striking waterfall tucked into the upper Wallowa River Canyon near Wallowa Lake in eastern Oregon. Cascading through a narrow, rocky gorge, the falls drop in a series of powerful chutes and short drops, framed by rugged basalt walls and dense evergreen forest. The water rushes with impressive force, especially in spring and early summer when snowmelt swells the river.

As winter settles into the Pacific Northwest, storms begin to roll in, feeding Oregon’s magnificent waterfalls with even more power and beauty. Don’t let a little rain keep you away—this is when the cascades are at their most breathtaking. Once winter snow arrives, many falls become harder to reach (though still possible for the adventurous with the right gear). It’s certainly not too early to start planning your Oregon vacation that should involve chasing waterfalls.
Our Chasing Waterfalls and Oregon Waterfall Wednesdays series continues. According to Northwest Waterfall Survey there are well over 1000 waterfalls in Oregon! We’ve set out to witness the beauty of as many as we can. We’ll share our finds with you, our guests, so you too can set out to Chase Waterfalls.
