Amity, Oregon is situated in southern Yamhill County along Salt Creek near its confluence with Ash Swale and at the base of the Amity Hills.

A post office was established on July 6, 1852. The community was incorporated by the Oregon Legislative Assembly on October 19, 1880

As of June 1, 2026, the Oregon Association of Independent Inns (formerly the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild – OBBG) discontinued the program, and gift certificates are no longer available for sale. However, existing gift certificates remain valid and may still be redeemed.
