The best time to visit the Zumwalt Prairie Preserve is from late May through June into early July for peak wildflower displays, featuring lupine, geraniums, and buckwheat, and to see numerous raptors like hawks and eagles. For a different experience, consider winter for cross-country skiing or fall for fall colors, but spring/early summer offers the most vibrant floral and wildlife viewing.
