Cycling the Hood River Valley

Cycling the Hood River Valley and it’s quiet backroads, opens up a world of gorgeous scenery, handcrafted beers and ciders, farm stands, museums, and wineries. A network of excellent cycling roads winds through the valleys fruit orchards. In the spring, be witness to an explosion of cherry, pear and apple blossoms. Summer finds the early summer fruits, warm days and cool nights.  In the fall bask in the splendor of fall foliage and an amazing Oregon harvest.

Start planning your cycling vacation and enjoy the cool nights, fall foliage from the Old Parkdale Inn. These are just a few road cycling options. Should you be the mountain bike type, we’ve got you covered there, too. Just ask an innkeeper. They’ll point you in the right direction.

A fine option for awesome Hood River Valley backroads in the Hood River County Fruit Loop. Ride all 35 miles of it or just sections and take time to visit the venues along the way.  And please remember their motto: Ride it, Respect it. Enjoy it. Protect it!

‘We’ve had many guests who have brought their bikes and enjoyed biking the Hood River County Fruit Loop and the many back roads of the Hood River Valley.  After a hearty breakfast they’ve left the Old Parkdale Inn and traveled down Highway 35 toward Hood River, detouring off onto a few of the many back roads, cruising through the orchards, stopping along the way to take in some spectacular views.’

A unique rural farm experience awaits you in the beautiful Hood River Valley, where you will encounter 31 on-the-farm fruit stands, wineries, breweries, cideries and fields of flowers. The Fruit Loop drive is a 35 mile scenic drive through the valley’s orchards, forests, farmlands, and friendly communities but you could easily extend or shorten your ride. The innkeepers can pick up items you purchase along the way and bring them back to the inn.
