Storms are rolling through, snow levels are dropping, and fresh powder is piling up on the slopes. Winter is settling in, bringing that unmistakable mix of crisp air, swirling clouds, and the promise of deep snow for skiers and snowboarders. Mountain towns are starting to glow under a blanket of white, and it’s time to dig out the gear and get ready for another epic season in the Oregon’s high country.
Oregon offers unparalleled opportunities for skiing and winter recreation. Whether you are a skier, snowboarder, or looking for backcountry trails for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, Oregon has it all. Some inns offer special ski packages and all are glad to share their favorite spots with you. Mt. Bachelor is one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest ski areas. Only 20 minutes form Bend and Sunriver, Mt. Bachelor offers world class skiing and snowboarding from November through May. Famous for its deep, dry powder and with 3,683 acres of terrain served by a network of ten lifts, seven of which are high speed quads, there’s room for every interest and ability. In addition to the world renowned downhill skiing and snowboarding; snowshoeing tours, sled dog rides and Nordic skiing are all offered on site.
Ferguson Ridge is a community owned ski area located just 9 miles outside Joseph, Oregon. Operated by the Eagle Cap Ski Club, Ferguson Ridge Ski Patrol, and the Enterprise-Joseph Lions Club, it’s completely run on heart-volunteers who want a community place to gather and play
With the highest base elevation of any ski area in the state (7,100 feet) and located in the Elkhorn Ridge of the Blue Mountains, Anthony Lakes has the recipe for light, dry snow. Anthony Lakes is 19 miles west of the North Powder Exit 285 off Interstate 84 on a well maintained all-weather road.
Willamette Pass Resort on Highway 58 offers big mountain skiing to a variety of skill levels. Seven lifts including the states only high-speed six passenger lift will take you to 360 degrees of alpine adventure.
Mount Hood’s ski resorts provide downhill skiing and snowboarding, hiking, and cross country skiing.
Mt Hood Meadows is the largest ski resort on Mt. Hood! Enjoy 2150 acres of terrain with high speed express service with 5 high speed quads. Twelve chairlifts total and Snowcat access the greatest variety of terrain in the state of Oregon. Experts will revel in backcountry skiing at Heather Canyon.
Timberline Ski Resort is the only ski area in North America that’s open 12 months of the year with up to 3,590 vertical feet.
Southern Oregon
Community owned Mt. Ashland, the highest mountain in Southern Oregon’s Siskiyou range, is one of the only slopes in the nation where skiers can carve graceful turns during the day and enjoy clever turns of phrase at night. It’s located just 30 minutes from Ashland, where après ski options include a vibrant arts community, superb restaurants, quaint bed and breakfasts, and a world famous Shakespeare Festival.
From Mt. Ashland’s 7,533-foot summit, skiers and snowboarders ride a drop of 1,150 vertical feet. There is a remarkable terrain park, and the four chairlifts provide access to 23 trails as well as to open bowl skiing. The mountain’s 200 acres of skiing offer a number of challenging runs, including Ado and Balcony, leading locals to brag: If you can ski Ashland, you can ski anywhere.

As of June 1, 2026, the Oregon Association of Independent (formerly the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild – OBBG) discontinued the program, and gift certificates are no longer available for sale. However, existing gift certificates remain valid and may still be redeemed.
The Oregon Association offers a wide variety of inns, from a small guest cottage or two-room bed and breakfast to a larger country inn or dude ranch. If you need assistance locating a participating property or have difficulty redeeming your certificate, please contact us—we’re happy to help.
