Bed and Bike Oregon

Bed and Bike Oregon

Bed and Bike Oregon.  Oregon is the only state with a designated Scenic Bikeway Program and with hundreds of state parks, endless highways and backroads ranging from alpine to high desert.  Oregon offers the expert and beginner road and mountain biker unthinkable diversity. And while the journey may be the destination, don’t forget to enjoy an Oregon wine or brew at the end of a long day of cycling and choose an inn of the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild to rest your tired body and soul.

Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild recognizes the biking and hiking culture and we have dedicated a Biking and Hiking target page on our website where our innkeepers share biking options near their inns.  You’ll find an Oregon B&B inn waiting for your arrival on your eco friendly journey through Oregon.

Many of our inns are designated as a  Bike Friendly Business through Travel Oregon, that is we must provide at least five services and amenities from their approved list.  As lodging partners we must also provide secure and dry bike parking for our overnight guests.

Did you know that Oregon has the only Scenic Bikeway Program in the Nation?  And that many of these have been created by locals and have been ridden and reviewed to provide inspiration for planning a two-wheeled Oregon Cycling Vacation?   And that there is an Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild member inn on, or near, almost every one of them that you can use as your base camp?  Or perhaps plan an Inn-to-Inn Ride.

The Sisters to Smith Rock Scenic Bikeway features varied terrain, generally downhill from Sisters, less than 37 miles, which most cyclists will find most enjoyable.  You could start your ride in Sisters and spend the night at Long Hollow Ranch.  Or after a restful night’s sleep and hearty breakfast at The Ranch, you could take off from there and you’re almost half way to Smith Rock!  The Historic Farmhouse has five attractive, clean rooms, each with their own bath and plenty of room for your cycling group.  Long Hollow Ranch is a working cattle ranch offering trail rides and fly fishing so you might consider adding another day or two to your cycling adventure.

These Scenic rides/drives can be taking in your car or on your bike. Either way there is an Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild member inn where you can rest your tired bones at either end.  Plan either your two or 4-wheeled vacation in Oregon on one of Oregon’s Scenic Drives in the Central Cascades.

Oregon is the only state in the nation with a Scenic Bikeways program.  These routes were created, inspected, ridden and officially approved by Ride Oregon Ride and those cyclists who have made Oregon a bike friendly state at the head of the pack.

Fall foliage is amazing on these routes though Oregon Central Cascades and you’ll want to hit them before the first snows fall.  I’ve included links for both the McKenzie River Scenic Bikeway and the McKenzie Pass/Santiam Pass Scenic Byway.  Both allow you to start your journey in Sisters, Oregon, at the Long Hollow Ranch before heading over the McKenzie Pass to McKenzie River Round House.  Finish the 82 mile ride by taking the McKenzie Pass/Santiam Pass Scenic Byway back to Sisters.  Lava fields, snowcapped peaks and rushing rivers mark this 82-mile loop around two of Central Oregon’s Cascade Mountain passes.
